What you're actually crafting are, let's say, runes that influence all of those parameters. Simple example: you can make a fireball fly faster but it'd make its actual size smaller accordingly, or you could alter the damage but change its cooldown as well as a result - you could spam weak fireballs or go for rare but heavy hits if you liked. of your skills based on your preferences, but the stronger you make them in one department, the weaker they become in another one. The crafting system would become something I call "Skill Constructor" system.

Imagine Super Crate Box or Towerfall with smaller arenas used as battle scenes akin to those from SN:SS and you'd get the idea, not just a straight horizontal plane, but a landscape with some elements being higher than others, maybe some platforms up in the air etc.

Combat system is basically a single-screen platformer game with deeper than usual combat pushed into your typical RPG world similar to SN:SS' one.

Pretty much nothing would be just copied as it was.

Improving on the original is what I hope to do, although it's quite ambitious to say, so I also hope that doesn't sound arrogant.
